Journaling

Journaling

Many believers have found it helpful to journal, that is, to write down their thoughts as they pray or meditate on the Scripture.

Tangled thoughts gain clarity when they move through our pen (or keyboard).

This can help us see how God is working in our lives.  You can record both the ups and downs, an insight you had from God’s Word that day, concerns, victories, or your thoughts and feelings.

But you want to be sure that down the road you review what you wrote last year so you can see how God is working in your life!  In the Old Testament people sometimes erected a monument of stones to mark such an occasion (Genesis 28:18-19; 1 Samuel 7:12) so they would not forget.  If you’ve ever looked at a photo you hadn’t seen in many years you know how much you forget (“Did I really wear that?”).

Just use any notebook, pad, or electronic note system.  But make sure it is always handy when you have your Quiet Time.
